China Supay (Oil on wood)

This China Supay mask was painted in oil on wood, its colors bleeding down like something alive. The piece later became the cover of Palaver, UNCW’s magazine dedicated to myth and legend, where I also contributed a written reflection. Presenting it at the university allowed me to frame the Supay not only as a painted image, but as part of an ongoing conversation about stories, belief, and how myth persists across generations.
